× My #MeToo coming to VCA The VCA gallery show for the month of October will provide a platform for artists’ response to sexual abuse and harassment. Throughout the month, events and forums will be offered to engage the community in authentic, safe, and respectful dialogue in order to explore our shared experiences and to learn how we can come together to create a new narrative. For more information, view the Artist Call on our website:

Collage: A Practice in Truth-Telling

Ages: 16-Adult

Saturday, Aug 4, 1-4 pm

Instructor: Alisara Martin

What truths do you need to tell? How do you express strength and agency? This workshop is an opportunity for all gender identities to come together in a safe space, creating mixed-media collage pieces that express and react to themes related to the #MeToo movement. Pieces can be kept private or shown in the October gallery show. Painting, drawing, and collage materials will be provided, and no visual art experience is needed. Alisara holds an MFA in Printmedia from Cranbrook Academy of Art and has 12 years of experience teaching art to kids and adults, most recently with Harbor School, VISD Family Link and VCA.
